Meet the Artist

Electra Long is a prominent Bay Area painter specializing in plein air landscapes, portraits and still lifes in oil.  She has received many local and national awards and her paintings are in many collections.

Electra trained at the Art Student's League and the National Academy of Design in New York, the Ecole Charpentier in Paris, the University of Louisville, and San Francisco State University where she earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees.  Her instructors included Burt Silverman, David Leffel, Harvey Dinnerstein, Ron Sherr, Jesse Corsaut, Jack Faragasso and Robert K. Semans.

Electra is a Signature Member of the Society of Western Artists and a Life Member of the Art Students League.  She has painted commissions for U. C. Berkeley, Stanford University, and the Pennsylvania State Senate.    

In 2000 Electra was chosen as artist of the year by KTEH-TV.  A 30 minute TV documentary on her life and work (Portrait of an Artist) was produced and aired by KTEH.
